March 21, 2012 saw the AMA Supercross role into Toronto for a night of racing at the Rogers Centre. I Made the trip down to Tornoto to take in this event for the first time. I've always watched the Races on the TV, but being able to see it in person was so much better. The Stadium was full with a good crowd chearing for the favourite riders.

January 14, 2012 was the coldest day of the year so far. The
temperature was -18 Celsius. This did not stop the diehard snowmobile
enthusiasts from taking in the Old Snowmobile Show and Swap in Eganville
Ontario. The event was held on the site where come February snowmobile will
race around the Bonnechere Cup Oval Track. There were some nice show sleds on
display. Visitors to the show got a chance to pick up a ballot and vote for
sleds in different classes. There was also a swap area. The next big event will
be the Bonnechere Cup which will be held February 25 and 26.

This past weekend saw the Canadian Snowcross Racing Association season opener take place at the Ski Hill in Calabogie. Despite the lack of natural snow on the ground in the surrounding area. There was snow made at the bottom of the hill and a track was layed out. Fans in attendance were treated to some great race action with Skidoo, Polaris and Arctic Cat sleds battling it out for the win. There was some great racing in all the classes. There were some brief showers around noon. The showers soon eneded and spectating conditons improved.

Road Trip. Saturday September 24, 2011 I took a road trip and headed to Saint-Jérôme Quebec to take in Expo Sno 2011 which is a snowmobile show and swap meet. There were some fantastic show sleds. There was even a swap area. I found some much needed snowmobile parts. The next show on the list is the Metcalfe Fair Snowmobile Show hosted by the Osgoode Carleton Snowmobile Trail Club on October 2. If all goes to plan, I'll have sled on display.

Great Nights

To close off the month of August I had two great nights. The first was the regular Tuesday "cruise night" at the Hazeldean Mall. It's been a few years since I have had the chance to take in the "cruise night" there were plenty of cars to see. As I walked around looking at the cars a breif rain shower took place at 7:00 pm and that sent car owners running to close windows, hoods etc. There were still cars showing up around this time as well. The second event I had the chance to attend was the regular Wednesday nigh racing at Capital City Speedway. This was the last Wednesday night race of the 2011 season and the last chance for drivers to get points. The next big event at the speedway will be held the afternoon of September 10 and there is a good chance another Saturday Enduro race will be held. It was great to walk through the pits and talk to some of the drivers. During one of the Late Model heat races, both Tow Truck were put to work and both lifted a late model car off the track. This particular heat race seemed to forever to get completed with all the cautions. The Feature races were exciting as usual.

Enjoying Summer

It's been a while since my last blog post. Summer is in full
swing and I hope everyone has been out and enjoying. I have been out riding
ATV's and Dirt bikes. I have also been to Capital City Speedway Ottawa to take
in Wednesday racing. Capital City Speedway is an asphalt oval. The classes that
run are Late Models, Legends, Thunder Cars, Mini Stocks and Four For Fun. There
was an Enduro race July 13 and the next is scheduled for August 10. I had a
chance to head to the Augusta Motorsport Park to take in a Day of July Wheels A
Churnin event. There is a lot to see and do at the event. Hope everyone keeps
enjoying the summer.

Wheels A Churnin June 2011

The first edition of Wheels A Churnin 2011 was held this past weekend. June 3, 4 and 5 saw the first event of the 2011 season take place. There was plenty of action in the mud pit. If mud isn’t your thing then there was the obstacle course, mud drags, tractor pull, ATV, dirt bike and snowmobile drags. There was also plenty of action on the mx sand circle track. The weather was great and the mud was flying back in the mud pit. There is lots action to take in around the Augusta Motors Sport Park. By far the biggest crowd in the afternoon and early evening was back in the mud bog. We sure enjoyed the June 2011 Wheels A Churnin and are looking forward to the July event.

If want to see pictures, check out the photo gallery and video page!

Gloucester Fair 2011

Saturday May 28, 2011 I had the chance today to attend the Gloucester Fair out at the Rideau Carleton Raceway. The main draw on this day was the "Monsters on a Mission" show which saw the following monster trucks come out to put on a show:

Brutus, Avenger and Blackjack.

The show also included Battlecross and Quad racing. Each of the three brought something different which was good to see. The rain held back which was a relief to the fans. There were also midway rides and stage acts like "doodoo the clown" for the kids.

As far as events go which have been mentioned on the home page, the Marlborough Monster Mud Truck Parade is set for September 18, 2011. We said Monster Mud Truck, but all mud trucks are welome to attend. We'll try and have a parade of trucks through the forrest. A date for the 1st ever Ottawa Coyote Run is still being determined. When we have a date for the Coyote Run, we'll post on the homepage.

Next weekend will see some mud flying in North Augusta. Take care and stay safe.

Mid Week Update

Well it’s Wednesday afternoon and just and I did feel a little bit of a rumble. Apparently there was 4.7 magnitude earthquake in Lachute Quebec. It’s 4 degrees Celsius or 39 Fahrenheit with light drizzle on and off. I did get my 69 Olympic running better after visiting the trust local repair shop. I did manage to get it out for a run on Sunday. The snow appears to be going down in many areas particularly the fields. If you’ve got a trail pass and are still looking to ride the trail system you’d better check the trail status and ride with caution. The ploughed fields can be pretty rough. Remember to respect the lands which landowners have allowed the trails to cross. With the warm weather and rain, many creeks, rivers and lakes have become un- safe to cross and use. Yes in some parts of Ontario and Quebec there is still lots of snow and great riding to be had. So if you’re still willing to get out and ride, be safe, have fun, a respect the lands on which you ride.

January Snowmobile Show

Woke up Saturday morning with light snow failing. The plan was to head to Eganville Ontario Canada depending on the weather and road conditions. The roads and highways weren’t that bad and since there was no rush, I took my time. Finally I arrived at the show and swap grounds. I took in the show sleds first and then made my way over to swap area. The show was on the site of the track. There was a large turnout of show sleds and lots of various parts in the swap area. In the swap area, there is a lot to take in. The temperature was a bit cold, but if you dressed warm there were no troubles. On the way home from the show we got stuck behind some snowploughs. But that’s the way it goes. Now that the show is over, it shouldn’t be long till the crews of volunteers get to making the ice surface on the Bonnechere Speed Oval.
