Thursday July 1, 2010 saw Canada Day Celebrations take place around Ottawa and on Parliament Hill. With the Queen being in town, I decided to make my way out of town and take in the Dirt Car 358 Modified series @ Autodrome Edelweiss. Heat races started @ 6:00 P.M. After the heat races were completed and feature races for the other 3 classes were completed, a field of 32 Modifieds lined the front stretch for driver introductions and the playing of both National Anthems. Once that was completed the 32 cars fired up their engines and the 100 lap feature was underway. 32 Cars racing around the dirt track sure was loud, dusty and exciting as cars battled it out for positioning. If you?ve never visited the dirt track @ Autodrome Edelweiss you may want to make the roughly 40 min drive from downtown Ottawa http://www.autodromeedelweiss.com/en/
Wednesday July 7th, is a regular race night @ Capital City Speedway and The Late Models and Legends will be running Double Feature races. The cost to attend the race is $5.00, that?s right folks, $5.00 to see Late Models, Thunder Cars, Legends, Mini Stock and 4-fun. As the advertisements say, the track is newly paved. So bring along your family and friends for a night of racing starting @ 7:00 P.M. as long as the speedway site says racing is a go http://www.capitalcityspeedway.ca/index.html
