Old Sled Run

Posted on March 12, 2014 at 4:45 PM

On March 4th, 2014 I had the chance to take in the 8th annual Constance Bay Old Sled Run. This event had been on my list of events to attend for a few years. Things finally aligned and I was able to attend. I had planned on riding my 1973 Elan, however it was running to hot. I had just gotten my Touring sled back from the repair shop and decided I would take it. A short ride February 28, established the machine was good to go. However on this ride I met the groomer and the trails were pretty hard. Cooling was an issue.

Naturally on March 1st when I woke up and saw fresh show I was happy and made my way to Legion in Constance bay. The old sleds set off just after 10. Even-though I wasn’t riding an old sled, riding in the group was quite pleasant. Making it to the Ottawa River is the first major accomplishment for all of the old sleds. From there we crossed the ice towards the Quebec shore. Then travelled parallel to the shore and arrived Quyon, Quebec. I ended up following a group of old Polaris and Arctic Cat snowmobiles. First ones to arrive at the Hotel parking lot in Quyon which was empty at the time. I then headed in for some food. When I came back out there were tons of sleds in the lot. At the end of day in discussions with the event organizer I was informed 141 registered snowmobiles made the trip.

Here are the links to some video I took, some photos are in my photo gallery as well:
